Error Code 0x80000FFF in Vista

Some of you may encountered an error code 0x80000FFF when updated your Windows Vista using Windows Update or Microsoft Update. In addition, we often met this errors update when we run Windows Update from Control Panel.

To fix this, first please check your Windows registry, is there any one of the values below:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\COMPONENTS\PendingXmlIdentifier
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\COMPONENTS\NextQueueEntryIndex
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\COMPONENTS\AdvancedInstallersNeedResolving
If you encounter one of them, please do the procedure below to resolve the error code 0x80000FFF in Windows Vista.
  1. Use Microsoft Fix it 50202 which has been provided by Microsoft, clik here to download it.
  2. If you want a little challenge, follow these steps:
  3. Click Start, in the search box, type in regedit and click Regedit.exe, if you are asked about admin password, just type the admin password.
  4. Find the following registry key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\COMPONENTS.
  5. Right-click COMPONENTS.
  6. Click Export.
  7. In the File Name box, type COMPONENTS.
  8. In the Save in box, click Desktop or wherever you want but make sure the location is reachable for you.
  9. In the details pane, right-click PendingXmlIdentifier, and then click Delete. If this value does not exist, go to the next step.
  10. In the details pane, right-click NextQueueEntryIndex, and then click Delete. If this value does not exist, go to the next step.
  11. In the details pane, right-click AdvancedInstallersNeedResolving, and then click Delete. If this value does not exist, go to the next step.
  12. Restart the computer.
