When we open the excel shortcut, the program is run normally but it takes longer to open a document file. Some people try to choose the Excel - > Open - > and browse the appropriate documents to immediately open document they want.
Actually, the problem caused by Office File Validation (OFV) which checks the file is trustworthy before it opens the file. Of course, this check process reduces your performance because of the network traffic when reading in the parts of the workbook.
Here the answers:
First option,
You can try to disable Microsoft Office File Validation Add-in for Excel by removing the Excel portion of the OFV. This will remove protection for Excel only while other Office app remains protected.
Just use this Microsoft Fix It to resolve the issue (From Microsoft).
Second option,
This step also disables Microsoft Office File Validation Add-in for Excel but it done via registry settings. It removes protection for Excel only and other office applications are not changed at all.
Just use this Microsoft Fix It to resolve the issue (From Microsoft).
If you would like to do the second option manually, follow these steps:
- Exit Excel.
- Click Start, click Run, type regedit, and then click OK.
- Locate and then click to select the following registry key:
- HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Office\11.0\
- After you select the key that is specified in step 3, point to New on the Edit menu, and then click Key.
- Type Excel, and then press ENTER.
- Select Excel, point to New on the Edit menu, and then click Key.
- Type Security, and then press ENTER.
- Select Security, point to New on the Edit menu, and then click Key.
- Type FileValidation, and then press ENTER.
- Select FileValidation, point to New on the Edit menu, and then click DWORD Value.
- Type EnableOnLoad, and then press ENTER.
- Note: The default value is 0 which disables the validation.
- On the File menu, click Exit to quit Registry Editor.
