Outlook Attachment Can’t be Viewed

This article was taken from my personal experience. And maybe some of you have gotten “failed to open" attachments in your Outlook. Image in the message body is visible only in black with a red cross in the corner on the left.

To view the outlook for the missing attachment, you can try resetting your IE. This step was taken because Outlook relies on IE and Outlook considers IE as the default browser. Follow these steps to reset your IE.
  1. In the menu bar, select Tools -> Internet Options.
  2. Go to Advanced tab and click on the Reset button.

  3. A confirmation dialog will appear, you can also delete personal settings if you want by checking the check box beside Delete personal settings. Click the Reset button
  4. Restart your Outlook.
If you want to reset your IE automatically, you will need this MicrosoftFixIt Tool.
